본 연구의 목적은 멘토링을 통해 유아교육과 신입생들에게 전공에 대한 관심과 학습의욕을 지원하려는데 있다. 연구 참여자는 유아교육과 1학년 23명의 멘티와 유아교육과 졸업생 5명의 멘토이다. 연구는 약 6개월 동안 수행되었으며, 멘토링 과정에서 나타난 멘티와 멘토의 경험을 탐색하였다. 수집된 자료는 멘티와 멘토의 저널, 멘티의 참여일지와 멘토의 지도일지, 협의회와 면담자료, e-메일 등이며, 질적인 분석을 하였다. 연구결과 멘티는 친밀함과 유대감으로 마음트기, 맞춤형 조언자, 생동감있는 현장체험, 전공에 대한 이해와 높아진 학습동기, 역할모델로서의 선배라는 의미를 경험하였다. 반면 멘토는 멘토역할에 대한 부담과 자부심, 경험을 바탕으로 지원자 되어주기, 멘토간 새로운 관계형성과 재충전의 기회를 경험하였다. 연구결과를 통해 볼 때 선배와의 멘토링은 학습동기뿐 아니라 대학생활의 측면에서도 긍정적 효과가 있으므로 멘토링의 확대가 필요함을 시사한다.
The purpose of this study was to support the interest and learning motivation of early childhood education freshmen to their majors through mentoring. The participants were 23 freshmen and 5 graduates of Early Childhood Education Department. The study was conducted for six months and explored the mentee and mentor's experience during mentoring. The data was collected through mentee and mentor's journal, mentee's participation journal, mentor's teaching journal, interview, and e-mail. The collected data was analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that through the mentoring mentees experienced many things: mind daylight through intimacy and bond, custom adviser, vivid work experience, understanding and high learning motivation to major, the meaning of senior as a role model. Mentors, on the other hand, not only felt burden and self-confidence about the role as a mentor, but also experienced the role as mentee's supporter and the opportunity of recharge for new relationships between mentors. Mentoring with seniors revealed to affect positive effects on mentee's learning motivation and college life. The results of this study suggest needs for expansion on mentoring based on their experiences.
