초록

본 연구는 북한이탈주민 4명을 주인공으로 한 생애사 연구이다. 본 연구에서는 연구주인공들의 생애경험을 통해 북한이탈주민을 중심으로 한 우리사회의 구조적 특성을 파악하여 사회복지 차원에서의 실천관점을 구성하고자 했다. 연구자들은 Rosenthal(2008)의 생애사 재구성 방법을 응용하여 연구주인공들로부터 수집한 생애사 자료를 기초로 생애사 텍스트를 구성했고 이를 서사적 생애사와 체험된 생애사로 나누어 순차적으로 분석했다. 최종적으로 연구주인공들의 개별 생애사를 관통하는 생애사 주제를 발굴하고 이를 6·25전쟁 전·후에 월남한 월남민들의 생애와 이주민들을 주제로 한 국내의 질적 연구 결과를 비교, 분석하는 유형화 작업을 수행했다. 연구결과 북한이탈주민이 경험한 차별과 배제의 기저에는 남한주민들의 동일성에 대한 집착과 압력이 있었고 이를 우리 사회의 구조적 특성이라 분석했다. 마지막으로는 다양성을 확보할 수 있는 사회복지 차원의 실천관점을 제시했다.

This study provides idiographic examinations of 4 North Korean defectors. The aim of this study is to identify the social structural characteristics and frame a practical perspective in the regard to social work in South Korean society. We adopt the Rosenthal’s method of life history reconstruction to compose a life history text based on the data from the 4 protagonists. We subsequently analyze the text divided into narrative and experienced life history. Consequentially, the theme of the life history is turned up and the typology is developed through the comparison with previous studies on the defectors just after the Korean War. In the results, we find that our North Korean society has deep obsession and high pressure of unification beneath the discrimination and exclusion of the North Korean defectors. It can be considered as the one of the social structural characteristics in our South Korean society. According the results, we suggest an important practical perspective which can ensure the diversity and coexistence in social work practice.
