이 논문은 유아들이 환경적 문자(Environmental Print)와 상호작용하는 정도에 따라 자발적 쓰기, 쓰기에 대한 태도, 쓰기 수행능력에 차이가 있는가를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 본 논문에서 환경적 문자란 유아들이 살아가고 있는 주변 환경에 자주 노출되어 있는 문자로서, 예를 들어, 간판, 과자 봉지, 책 표지, 거리 표지판 등을 말한다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자는 실험집단의 유아들을 대상으로 환경적 문자들을 스스로 찾아내고, 그 글자들을 이용한 문자 활동을 수행하였다. 연구대상은 만 4세 학급의 유아 42명이었고, 이들은 각각 21명씩 통제집단과 실험집단으로 구분되었다. 연구의 절차는 1주간의 사전검사, 4주간의 실험처치, 1주간의 사후검사로 진행되었으며, 실험 처치의 4주 동안 주 3회씩 총 12회의 환경적 문자활동이 진행되었다. 자료 수집은, 자유선택 활동 시간을 이용한 자발적 쓰기의 빈도 측정과 사전 사후 검사를 통해 수집된 유아의 쓰기 태도검사 점수, 쓰기 결과의 분석을 통해 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료는 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 통해 분석되었다. 연구결과, 환경적 문자를 이용한 교수법은 유아의 자발적 쓰기와 쓰기 수행에 긍정적 효과를 나타내었고, 유아의 쓰기에 대한 태도에는 영향을 미치지 못하였다.
This research was planned to inspect how environmental print oriented approach could affect to the writing behavior, attitude toward writing, and writing level of young children. Several research results showed that children can learn how to read and write easily through environmental prints. Environmental prints are everywhere around us. They could be found in signs, magazines, newspapers, and many different kinds of daily use products. Children can see the covers of their stuffs, books, milk cartons, etc. This research focus on the idea that it we use those various and meaningful environmental prints, then we could see the marvelous growth of children"s literacy skill.
The problems of research are as follows. First, does environmental print oriented approach affect to the voluntary writing of children? Second, does environmental print oriented approach affect to the attitude toward writing? Third, does environmental print oriented approach affect to the writing level of children? The subjects of this research was 42 four year old children. They were divided into control group and experimental group. The experiment group only experienced the environmental print oriented approach. The experimental procedure was pretest, treatment, and post-test. Each data was collected by observation, survey, and writing performance. The rated data was analyzed by ANCOVA.
The result of this study were as follows: 1. The environmental print oriented approach give positive effect to the level of voluntary writing of children.
2. The environmental print oriented approach didn"t affect to the attitude toward writing of children.
3. The environmental print oriented approach affect to the level of children"s writing.
