본 연구는 러시아에서 A국제학교 유치원에 다니는 유아들의 삶을 직？간접적으로 함께한 어머니의 인식을 구체적이고 심층적으로 살펴봄으로써 국제학교 유치원의 교육적 특성과 가치를 발견하고자 하는 것에 목적이 있다. 자료수집은 러시아의 A국제학교 유치원에 유아기 자녀를 보낸 경험이 있는 한국인 어머니 9명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 어머니들이 인식한 A국제학교 유치원의 교육적 특성은 부모참여의 당연성, 실제적 경험교육 지향, 능동적 주체로서의 유아, 다름과 차이의 존중으로 나타났다. 또한 어머니들이 인식한 A국제학교 유치원의 교육적 가치는 세계에 대한 예의 ‘배려’, 공존을 위한 ‘다양성’, 가능성으로 이끄는 힘 ‘주도성’, 공동체 유지의 기본 ‘책임감’으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 국제학교 유치원 교육을 이해하고 국제학교 유치원 교육에 대한 기초 연구를 제공하고자 한다. 또한 교육의 공급자인 교사, 유치원, 정부가 교육의 수요자인 어머니의 시각을 깊이 있게 이해하여 보다 질 높은 교육을 제공할 수 있으리라 기대한다.
This study tries to find educational characteristics and values of an international school kindergarten through in-depth interviews of South Korean mothers living abroad. Nine mothers with children at an international school in Russia were interviewed. As a result, the educational characteristics of mothers at Y international school were natural participation of the parents, pursuit of practical experience education, infant as an active identity, and respect for difference and deviation. The educational values of mothers at Y international school mothers were consideration for the world, diversity for coexistence, the initiative leading to the possibility and responsibility to maintain a community. These characteristics and values can only be applied to an international school kindergarten and for an in-depth understanding of an international school kindergarten through detailed stories. The study is expected to help teachers, kindergartens and the government provide better and high quality education by understanding the insights of mothers as potential consumers.
