본 연구는 어르신정책모니터링단 활동이 참여자의 세대 간 이해 변화에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구 목적 달성을 위하여 본 연구는 양적연구를 통해 세대 간 인식변화 여부를 검증하고 질적연구로 해당 결과의 의미를 해석하였다. 프로그램 참여자(청년 19명, 노인 34명)의 다른 세대에 대한 인식을 측정하여 사전-사후검사를 실시한 결과, 프로그램 참여 이후 노인에 대한 청년의 인식이 긍정적으로 변화하였다. 프로그램에 참여한 청년 4명과 노인 4명의 심층면접 자료를 내용 분석한 결과, 청년은 노인에 대한 관심과 기대가 크지 않은 상황에서 어르신 정책에 대해 노인과 함께 활동하면서 노인에 대한 인식이 긍정적으로 변화되었다. 반면 노인은 자신들의 경험에 비추어 노인에 대한 청년들의 공경심을 바라고, 위계관계를 고수하였기 때문에 변화가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구 결과는 정책 등 사회적 이슈를 매개로 운영된 세대통합 프로그램의 세대 간 이해 증진 효과를 뒷받침한다. 향후 세대 간 이해를 도모하기 위하여 여러 세대가 함께 사회 쟁점을 논의할 수 있는 기회가 필요하다.
This study aims to seek the effect of a Senior Policy Monitoring Group Project on intergenerational perceptions. In order to achieve the aim, this study uses mixed methodology, sequential explanatory design to do one-group pre/post-test and content analysis. Of 40 participants, 34 of older adults and 19 BSW students completed the survey for measuring participants’ perception toward other generations. Interviewees for content analysis consist of 4 older and 4 younger participants. According to the measurement of perception changes toward other generations, positive perceptions among younger participants toward older adults increased but there is no statistically significant perception change among older participants. Results from the content analysis show that younger participants paid no attention to older generations but later on became more award of the capabilities of older adults’ during project activities. Older adults had expectations toward younger generations and they held conservative attitudes toward hierarchical relationships toward younger generations. To narrow generational gaps, older adults may benefit from educations that help them understand younger generations. Intergenerational cooperation should be promoted and developed.
