A Need Assessment And Content Analysis of Textbooks Regarding Death Education in Human Service Areas.

초록
본 연구는 향후 노인을 대상으로 서비스를 제공하는 사회복지학, 간호학, 교육학을 포함하는 세 학문 분야에서 인간의 죽음과 죽음과정에 관한 교육 실태와 죽음교육의 필요성을 파악하기위해, 각 학문 분야의 대표적인 교과목의 교재를 분석과 학도들의 욕구조사를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 대구지역 일 대학의 사회복지학, 간호학, 교육학 교과과정에서 인간발달과 노년기를 주제로 하는 교과목에서 채택한 주 교재를 분석하였으며, 또한 상기 학문영역의 학도 179명을 대상으로 죽음교육의 필요성과 접근방법에 대한 욕구조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과, 모든 교재가 죽음과 죽음과정에 관련된 주제를 다루고 있는 것으로 확인되었으나, 각 과목에 선택된 교재에 따라 죽음관련 내용을 다루는 정도가 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 학제간의 차이도 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 욕구조사 결과에서 조사대상자들의 90%가 죽음교육이 필요한 것으로 인식하고 있으며, 죽음교육에 대한 접근방법으로는 토론과 사례중심의 교수법으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 기초로 휴먼서비스 학문 분야의 죽음과 관련된 교육에 대한 객관적인 이해와 이들을 대상으로 하는 죽음교육의 필요성과 후속연구에 대한 방안이 제시되었다.
This study investigates how human service areas regarding Social Welfare, Nursing, and Education address topics related to death and dying and students' needs of death education. For the purpose of this study, content analysis in text books and need assessment was conducted with 179 graduate students at three above areas in an university located in Daegu. Specifically, 2-3 textbooks from each class, selected by professor in the department, were analyzed to find out the reality of death education and the number and the type of concepts related death and dying were coded and discussed. The result of the study indicated that all textbooks included some information about death and dying, most frequently, death attitude and anxiety, however, among the textbooks in the same class showed a great amount of differences in terms of numbers and types of concepts related to death and dying. The result of need assessment showed that 90% of subjects considered death education was necessary, and discussion and case study was selected as teaching approach for death education. In the end, implications for death education for human service area as well as recommendation for further study were provided.
