A Comparative Study on the Perception of the Successful Aging of Korean Women: the Young Adults, Middle Age, and Old Age Women

본 연구는 우리나라 여성들의 성공적 노후에 대한 인식과 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하여 현재와 미래 여성노인의 성공적 노후를 위한 사회복지 실천적 함의를 찾고자 하는 목적에서 이루어졌다. 연구대상은 서울시에 거주하는 청년, 중년, 노년여성이며, 이들을 의도적 표집에 의해 추출하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 우리나라 여성들의 성공적 노후에 대한 인식은 연령수준별로 다르며, 중년층의 인식이 청년층이나 노년층에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 각 연령층별 회귀분석결과 청년층은 모델이 유의미하지 않았다. 중년여성의 성공적 노후 인식에 영향을 미치는 변인들은 종교와 자아존중감이었으며, 노년여성의 경우 자아존중감, 사회적 지지, 주관적 경제평가 등이었다. 본 연구결과를 가지고 사회복지실천적 개입을 위한 함의를 찾아보았다.
This study compared the perception of successful aging among young adults, middle age women, and old age women in Seoul, Korea and examined the factors associated with successful aging. The sampling methods used in this study was a purposive sampling and data were collected by answering the questionnaire in each setting. The participants were asked to rate the scale of successful aging develop by Kim and Shin(2005) and data were finally analyzed by regression analysis. The perception of successful aging of Korean women showed age-related differences, with middle age women attributing a higher level of importance to self-efficacy and successful adaptation of adult children than did the younger participants. Regression analysis showed model for young adults was not significant. The variables affecting successful aging of middle age women were religion and self-esteem and of old age women were self-esteem, social support and health status. The implications of social work intervention programs are discussed.
