Examining the Effects of Maternal Employments and Drinking on Child Maltreatments

본 연구는 어머니의 취업과 음주가 점진적으로 증가하는 우리나라의 현실에서 아동학대와 방임에 대하여 어떤 관계가 있는지 밝히고자 하는 하나의 탐색적 연구이다. 본 조사와 분석의 결과 어머니 취업은 모든 아동학대 및 방임과 관계되는 것으로 나타났으며 취업의 형태에 따라서 차별적 영향력을 갖고 있었다. 즉 어머니 단독 취업은 신체적 학대와 성적 학대와 관련되어있고 맞벌이 어머니는 신체적 학대 및 방임과 관계되어 있었다. 특히 어머니만 취업하는 형태의 경우 신체적, 성적학대와의 관계의 정도가 가장 강하게 나타났다. 한편 어머니 음주는 신체적 학대와 방임에만 직접관련 되어 있었지만 어머니 취업과 상호작용하고 있어서 음주효과는 취업형태에 따라 다르게 작용하고 있었다. 이 결과는 어머니 취업이 미취업모보다 학대를 더 증가시킨다는 것을 의미할 뿐만 아니라 아동학대예방에 있어서 어머니 취업 변수가 중요하게 다루어져야 함을 암시한다. 그리고 어머니 음주도 신체적 학대와 방임을 증가시키는 효과가 있을 뿐만 아니라 그 효과는 취업모보다 미취업모에 있어서 더 크다는 점을 의미한다. 이 결과는 아동학대의 위험요인으로서 음주 효과를 고려할 때 어머니의 취업형태에 따라서 차별적 접근이 있어야 함을 시사한다. 따라서 아동학대와 방임을 예방하기 위해서는 취업모의 가사부담을 경감하는 가족지원서비스의 보급과 직장에서 배려하는 정책이 필요한 동시에 일반 아동 가족의 어머니 음주 효과를 완화하기 위해서는 아동학대 예방교육에서 음주조절프로그램의 필요성을 제안하였다.
The paper is an exploratory study which makes attempts to examine the relationships between maternal works & drinkings, and child abuse and neglects, given that mother's working and drinking gradually increase today in Korean society. With the results of an analytical analysis, the maternal working is shown to be related to the every types of child abuses and neglects, but the specific forms of working are differently related to the child maltreatments. On the other hands, the maternal drinking is directly related with physical abuses and neglects only, and is shown to interact with the forms of maternal working. These findings mean that the maternal employments increase more child maltreatments than the maternal not-workings. Also the mother's drinking has an effect of increasing the physical abuses and neglects, and the effects are more stronger in the non-working mothers than the working mothers. Therefore, the thesis discusses the policy implications for prevention of child maltreatments including the family support services relieving working moms' house work burdens and workplace considerations, and suggests the policy alternatives such as drinking control programs for working moms in the child abuse preventive educations for relieving the drinking effects on the child maltreatments.
