본 연구의 목적은 재독 한인 광산노동자의 이주경험을 생애사적 맥락에서 분석하는 데에 있다. 이에 3개의 생애사 사례를 분석한 결과, ‘인생역전에 대한 꿈’이나 ‘대안적인 경제활동에 대한 기획’ 그리고 이에 더해진 ‘세상에 대한 호기심’이 노동이주를 추동한 동기였고, 그러나 이중 특히 경제적인 동기가 강한 이주로 인해 ‘광산생활에의 전념’이나 ‘부업까지 겸하는 광산생활’ 등 이원화된 경제활동이 이주 생활과정의 주요 경험이 되었으며, 이에 대한 평가는 ‘빈곤과는 거리가 있는 것’으로 이루어졌다. 한편, 경제활동에 이은 주요 경험인 자녀교육은 ‘대학교육까지도 공교육 덕분에 부모의 부담 없이 가능했던 것’으로, 이에 대한 평가는 대체로 ‘성공적이었던 것’으로 이루어졌다. 그런데 전자에 대한 평가가 출신국 동년배들이나 주변 한인들의 경제적 수준과 비교하는 관점에서 이루어졌다면, 후자에 대한 평가는 이러한 출신국 동년배들이나 주변 한인들의 자녀교육 수준과 비교하는 관점에 더해 자기비판적인 관점에서도 이루어진 측면이 있었다. 이러한 연구결과에 의거해 사회복지학 및 사회복지실천에 시사하는 함의를 논의하였다.
The research intends to analyse migration experiences of Korean mine Workers in Germany from the insider’s view. Three cases were analysed and the following conclusions were drawn: ‘Dream of life reversal’ or ‘project of alternative economical activities’, and ‘curiosities about the world’ in addition to this economical project were their main motives for work migration. Because of the strongest economical motive, ‘dedication of mining activities’or ‘mining activities with a side-job’ were their main experiences as migrants. Regarding economical experiences it was evaluated that they were far from being in poverty. Concerning education of children as a second migration experience it was reported that education, including the university study, was possible without financial burden of the parents by reason of the public education system. Education of children was described as a success. The former were compared to economical standards of contemporaries in their home country or Koreans, which are located in the same surrounding. In addition to these, the latter was evaluated also by a self-critical point of view. Based on the research, some implications for social welfare studies and social work practice were suggested.
