최근 유아교육기관에서의 초기적응 연구가 다양화되면서 초기적응에 관련된 여러 가지 문제점들이 새롭게 인식되고 있는데, 신체적인 부적응 행동이나 분리불안과 스트레스 등의 심리적인 부적응 행동들이 새로운 환경에 대한 부정적 적응반응을 일으킨다. 이에 우리는 어린이집 초기적응을 위한 가정과 어린이집의 적극적인 배려가 필요하며 초기적응을 위한 보다 구체적이고 체계적인 사례별 이해가 요구된다 하겠다. 본 연구의 목적은 만 1세 영아의 어린이집 초기적응과정에 나타나는 특징을 밝혀 영아 개인 중심의 적응프로그램의 개발을 강조하는데 있다. 초기적응과정에 대한 본 사례 연구에 의하면 7가지의 적응과정의 특징을 발견할 수 있었는데, 이를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 앞으로 가족과 떨어져 홀로 있어야 할 낯선 어린이집 환경에 대한 이해의 시간이 필요하였다. 둘째, 엄마와 함께 있는 어린이집 생활이 긍정적으로 인식되기 시작하였다. 셋째, 엄마가 없는 힘든 어린이집 생활이 시작되었고 거부하고 싶은 스트레스의 시간이었다. 넷째, 서서히 엄마가 없는 어린이집 생활을 받아들이게 되고, 선생님을 심리적 안전지대로 여기고 매달리는 강한 애착행동이 나타났다. 다섯째, 선생님께 여전히 강한 애착을 가지면서 친구들과도 어울리지 시작하였고 주변 환경에 대한 탐색활동도 활발해졌다. 여섯째, 잦은 감기와 배탈로 신체적인 부적응 행동이 나타났지만 어린이집 생활에 대해 기분 좋고 즐거움 곳임을 확실히 인식하게 되었다. 일곱째, 식욕이 왕성해지고 건강을 회복한 컨디션 좋은 어린이집 생활을 할 수 있게 되었다.
The purpose of this case study is to understand how infants adapt in child care center in the course of transition to child care center from home. Also it explores how many types of adaptation process appear in the course of transition to child care center from home. This paper used a case study to discover meanings in the lived experience of infants while adaptation in a child care center. For doing this case study, I was guided by literature review and observation notes.
Essential characters of infant's early adaptation process emerged; (1) Understanding of separation from the parents and living in a new environment, (2) participating and doing plays with patents in a new environment, (3) rejecting to enter the class and refusing everything in a strange space without parents, (4) recognizing a strange space without parents and finding security in their own relation with teacher instead of parents, (5) Making relationships with peers and teacher and participating and doing plays, (6) watching the teacher's face carefully and waiting for the teacher's care, (7) Overcoming the separation anxiety and have their sense of being in the new environment.
At any rate, the early adaptation process of infants to child care shows the personal characteristic in which the infants has their own ways and characters of early adaptation process in the course of adaptation.
