본 연구의 목적은 학교사회복지사의 역할수행 경험에 나타나는 다양한 특성들을 유형화하고, 각 유형에 영향을 미치는 조건들과 그 조건들의 실천적 의미를 파악함으로써 학교사회복지 실천의 발전적 방향을 논의하는데 있다. 연구방법은 스트라우스와 코빈(Straus and Corbin, 198)의 근거이론방법을 사용하였고, 연구참여자는 이론적 표본추출방법에 의해 전국에서 상주형 학교사회복지실천 경력이 1년 이상인 10명의 학교사회복지사를 선정하였다. 그리고 자료수집은 문제중심인터뷰(problem－centered interview)방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과 학교사회복지사의 역할수행 경험은 개인적 변인인 학교사회복지 관련 교육과 경험 그리고 학교사회복지사의 태도와 환경적 변인인 장애요인과 지요인에 따라 4가지 유형으로 유형화 되었다. 즉 ‘천군만마 성장형’, ‘도전적 성장형’, ‘노력적 성장형’, ‘사면초가 소진형’이다. 학교사회복지사의 역할수행에 영향을 미치는 변인들과 각 유형별 실천적 시사점은 향후 학교사회복지의 발전을 모색하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
The objectives of this study is to identify factors and their meanings in social work practice which have influenced on performing school social worker’s role, to explore the types of school social worker’s experiences, and to discuss the direction of school social work practice in the future. Grounded theory method proposed by Strauss and Corbin (1998) was used to analyze the data. To collect the data, 10 school social workers were invited in the problem-centered interview, a kind of the semi-structured interview.
According to the result of this study, we find that personal factors and environmental factors have influence on performing school social worker”s role. Four types of performing school social worker’s role are derived as follows: competent and favorable condition (well-conditioned performer), competent but unfavorable condition (challenger), incompetent and favorable condition (hard-worker), and incompetent and unfavorable condition (burn-outer). The implications on these conditions and types of performing school social worker’s role might contribute to make a progress in school social work practice in Korea.
