A Study on Young Children's Aesthetic Responses and Changes of the Paintings Through the Comparison of Art Appreciation Activities of Traditional Korean and Western Paintings

본 연구는 유아가 같은 주제의 한국화와 서양화의 비교감상활동에 따른 유아의 미적 반응과 그림변화는 어떠한 지를 살펴보는 것에 목적을 두었다. 연구 대상은 W시에 소재한 공립유치원 만 5세 유아들이며, 남？여아 각 8명씩 모두 16이고, 연구 기간은 2019년 4월 15일∼6월 8일까지 총 10회에 걸쳐 한국화와 서양화의 비교감상활동을 실시하고, 연구방법은 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과로 첫째, 한국화와 서양화의 비교감상활동에서 유아들은 한국화와 서양화에 대한 그림 이미지를 비교하고, 두 명화간의 공통점과 차이점을 발견하여 구별하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 한국화와 서양화의 비교감상활동에 나타난 유아의 그림 변화는 비교감상활동 후 그림내용이 구체적이고, 정교한 선, 다양한 색상 및 적절한 공간 구도로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해, 한국화와 서양화의 교수단계에 따른 비교감상활동이 유아미술 감상지도를 위한 새로운 방안이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate young children’s aesthetic responses and changes of the paintings through the comparison of art appreciation activities of traditional Korean and Western paintings. The subjects of the study included 16 five-year-old children from a public kindergarten in W city. The study was conducted 10 times from April 15th to June 8th, 2019. The data were analyzed by qualitative research method. The results of the study are as following: First, young children compared their images of Korean and Western paintings and the children’s interactions discovered commonalities and differences between traditional Korean paintings and Western ones. Second, the changes in the paintings of young children were more specific and showed more elaborated lines, various colors and proper space positions. Based on the results of this study, the findings suggest that the comparative appreciation activities can be a new way of teaching art appreciation for young children.
