This study analyzed the contents of childhood education in Dongmongsugi(童蒙須知) a textbook of etiquette education for childhood. The analysis was based on the 6th Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum and the theories of education in Dongmongsugi.
The contents of Dongmongsugi were divided into 4 groups.
(1) Health life area : The contents focused on the education of self control.
(2) Social life area : The contents consists of the bow, language, table, and dress manners.
(3) Language life area : The contents focused on dealing with the books carefully and loving books rather than focused on the reading and writing.
(4) Inquary life area : The contents consists of the spirit and attitude of inquiry.

The main purpose of this study was to empirically analyze the relationship of Child Care Service(CCS) on Job and Family income of Young Children's Mothers. For this purpose, the scales of composing CCS, job were developed, and revised through precedent study. The subjects of this research include 428 Young Children's Mothers who has preschool children in Child Care Center. The data were analyzed by variance and chi square, logistic regression, pearson's correlation.
The result of This study show that the CCS have relations with the job determination of Young Children's Mothers. Among the variable of CCS, especially education program in the Child Care Center is the important variable which have relations with the decision of job. And the significant variables which related positively with the job desire, preparation and maintenance of Young Children's Mothers, are air conditioning and heating, falling ill, preventing injection, education plan practice, to dislike to go to Child Care Center. The CCS has contributed to family income improvement of the working mother.

The comprehensive transition program supporting the three children with disabilities served in integrated day-care center, proceeded to elementary regular school was implemented. The program was consisted of the direct supporting services from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. by supporting teacher stayed in the first grade class included with the three children with disabilities. And the after-school program was carried out in day-care center consisted of small group learning, music therapy, special physical education, community-based training, parent counseling and education. The transition support was lasted for 15 months, as 3 months for preparation and 12 months for program implementation. The results indicated that three children with disabilities showed the positive increases in academic achievement and behavior adjustment in the first grade class compared with the level of initial performance. Based on these outcomes, the future directions for improving the transition support model were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the actural condition of reeducation for teachers who work at a infant educational institution, and to analyze the difference of it, depending on vocational career, form of foundation.
In order to research questionaries was gaven to 264 teachers working farm villiage in Jeonranamdo. Feeling of satisfaction about chance of reeducation was 3.22 point in total average. There was meaning of difference depending on vocational career. Feeling of satisfaction about content of reeducation was 2.63 point in total average. There was meaning of difference depending on vocational career and form of foundation. The number of times 1~2 was the higtest rate in degree of attendant reeducation. The number of times 3~4 was the secondary rate. Newspaper in Education(NIE) was the hightest rate in the content of reeducation, The secondary rate was content of basic learning ability and the third rate was compensatory education. Not often attended at reeducation the reason why were not concerned to the program. It is rate was average 4.06 point. For the reformation, there was adoption of auxiliary teacher(average 2.28), endowment of additional point(average 2.27), variation of content(average 2.14), enforcement of special vacation(average 1.93), positive expense support(average 1.74).

The purpose of the study was to test a hypothesis that there would be differential prediction of parenting for children who scored high and low in negative emotionality as infants on the development of delay of gratification. Toward this end, 53 infants were observed at one year of age with their mothers and fathers during the laboratory assessments in order to obtain measures of parenting and infant negative emotionality. Then at 18 months of age children's capacity to delay touching attractive object were measured. As results, differential effects of parenting on children's delay of gratification for infants with low or high negative emotionality were detected as anticipated. In the case of infants with higher negative emotionality, the more positive fathering children received, the longer they could delay gratification in the laboratory six months later but in the case of infants with lower negative emotionality no significant parental influence on delay of gratification was detected.

This study was to seek for Reconceptullized Approach on the Assessment of Early Childhood Curriculum. First, we considered the trend of educational assessment for young children and we analyzed the problem of assessment for young children. Second, This study examines the work of two critical curriculum theorists known as reconceptualists. Selected works of William F. Pinar and Michael W. Apple are reviewed as examples of existential and structural emphases within reconceptualism. The main concepts and themes of Pinar and Apple are discussed and compared with their common perceptions of traditional theories of curriculum and schooling.
The Reconceptullized Approach on the Assessment of Early Childhood Curriculum were suggested: the holistic, dynamic and authentic assessment for young children. The basic principle of the holistic, dynamic and authentic assessment for young children is based on the whole child and developmental appropriate assessment. The methods of holistic, assessment for young children were self reflection and document, self assessment by VPE(Verbal Plan & Evaluation), social measurement method and family interview method. The methods of dynamic assessment for young children were pre assessment-reciprocal teaching-post assessment method.
The methods of authentic assessment for young children were assessment using observation, portfolio assessment, informal interview method. To apply the holistic, dynamic and authentic educational assessment method for young children, another related considerations were discussed.

There has been disagreement among scholars on the issue of when and how the child care services and child welfare services started in modern Korea. This study contributes to clarifying the specific development of child welfare and child care on the basis of historical data.
Child care and child welfare in modern Korea started in 1854, when Korean Catholic church took care of infants and orphans as a regular church's program. Next year, this program led to the establishment of Sancta Infantia, whose model was the French Sancta Infantia in terms of rules, organization, and service delivery system. This organization can be taken to be the first private social welfare organization in Korea. Sancta Infantia was the first social welfare organization putting such programs as child care, education, and rehabilitation into effect.
The activities of Sancta Infantia developed subsequently into systematic and various welfare programs with the gradual removal of oppression against Catholic. In 1885, Catholic church established an institution for orphan with physical facilities and professionals, making it the first private child welfare institution in Korean history. This institution provided orphans with comprehensive services including education, rehabilitation, medical treatment, as well as such basic services as food, shelter, and clothes. Given the comprehensiveness of services offered by the institution. we can estimate the modern characteristic of the institution very highly.

This study aims to capture actual condition of preschool science education and training in the field accurately. Based on this, the requests of preschool teachers for the contents and method of the preschool science teacher training programs are also analyzed. Fifty preschool teachers participated in this study, and have collected data especially for the qualitative analysis, categorized them, and found out the themes of each areas through the content and meaning analysis methods.
In terms of the current condition of science education and training, preschool science teachers are categorized according to the following four groups. For the request of preschool science teachers for teacher training programs in particular, it is pointed out training of understanding and improvement of conceptual orientation of science and knowledge, a long-term systematic training, and improvement of efficient science teaching method.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of manipulation of environmental variables on children's behaviors in Korean kindergarten classrooms.
One classroom consisted of 36 5-year-olds(19 boys and 17 girls) located in the middle class residential area in Seoul was selected for this study. Procedures for the present study was based on principles of ecological psychology; children's behavior in the early education setting is considered to be more a function of that environment than any other variable.
At first, the children's behavior was observed and scored for two weeks according to frequencies of behavior by type and by activity area, utilizing the Behavior Checklist Data Sheet developed by Day et al.(1974) to collect the baseline data. Next, the room was arranged so it qualified for high scores on the kindergarten classroom design guidelines. Children's behavior was observed and scored according to the Behavior Checklist.
As a result of changing the physical environmental variables, frequencies of crowding indicator behaviors were markedly decreased, while positive and constructive behaviors clearly increased. All of these results met a satisfactory level of statistical significance.
Discussions and suggestions were made for further study.

This study investigated the teacher's recognition and the status about children's play in kindergartens. A questionnaire was developed for this study and was used in collection of data. The questionnaire consisted of 54 items and divided into five areas.
The subjects in this study were two hundreds and seventeen kindergarten teachers from rural and urban areas. The data were calculated by frequency, mean, and standard deviation and were analyzed by χ2, t-test, ANOVA, and Tukey method for multiple comparisons. The results showed that the teacher's recognition and the status about children's play in kindergarten were significantly differed by variables of teachers, such as ages, teaching experiences, and education backgrounds.

This study investigated (1)present modes of parent education in the infant and toddler centers, (2)mother's level of and need for knowledge about child development, child rearing and related areas, and (3)the variables that related to mothers' needs in these areas. The mothers of 205 young children participated in this study by a questionnaire developed by the investigator. The results showed that the need of mothers identified should be included in parent education programs along with knowledge, skills and attitudes selected by professionals. Selection of content should be based on the fact that most mothers have similar concerns in raising their children, regardless of educational level, occupation and income. However, mother's age and child's gender need to be considered.

The purpose of this study was to find the preschool teacher's awareness on child abuse which is defined by physical abuse, neglect, emotional abuse and sexual abuse. Also, it was to find the preschool teacher's awareness on child abuse report.
The results of this study were as follows:
First of all, the preschool teachers' awareness on child abuse showed a resonable low-points to all abuse patterns. Especially, the preschool teachers' awareness is lower the behavior syndrom than the physical syndrom on abuse.
The next, for one year ago, experience which found out abused child was 56 of 284 teachers.
And preschool teachers' awareness on the needs of the report center and report system showed mostly(97.1%) that need.
For the last time, the awareness on the education experience of child abuse showed that 50% of the preschool teachers educated properly. Many of the preschool teachers(96.8%) showed that they had a great deal of education experience that they could find out child abuse during teaching. Also, many of the teachers(94.8%) showed that participate in education.

This study investigates director, teacher, parent's recognition on the volunteer activities of parents in the kindergarten classrooms. The subjects of this study were 662 kindergarten directors, teachers, parents in Jeonbuk province, respectively 144, 212, 306. The data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed by the statistical methods of frequencies, percentages, a Chi-Square test with SPSS program. The major findings were as follows : 1) Directors, teachers, parents positively recognized the concept of volunteer that is parent's spontaneous, public benefit, development of self and nonsalaried activity. And it appeared need to volunteer activities in kindergarten because of effectiveness of early childhood education and understanding of the kindergarten. 2) They all recognized that volunteer's attitude needs the observance of role, most of all directors recognized knowledge of education principle, teachers and parents recognized fairly dealing with children. 3) They all recognized that pre-education needs to the understanding of early childhood education and children. 4) Most of the Directors, teachers, parents wanted the role of the simple assistant as a volunteer activities in kindergarten. 5) Most of the Directors, teachers, parents recognized that the assessment method needs to discussion among directors, teachers and parents and the assessment content needs to volunteer's attitude and capability of volunteer's role performance.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a famous paintings Appreciation activities on the young children's creativity. For this investigation, 60 kindergarten were grouped as an experimental, control group as such experimental groups trained famous paintings appreciation activity for 3 months.
Both groups were given a pretest and post test to check the development of their creativity. The results showed that the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher differences than the control group in the creativity components of fluency, flexibility and figural creativity.

The present study deals with the need assessment on baby care in working place for workingwomen. The questionnaires on baby care were completed by a sample of 689 working women in Seoul and Kyung-gi province. Authors analyzed the necessity of baby care in working place and effects on woman's job satisfaction. The results are as followings.
About 93% of subjects thought that baby care in working place was necessary. Baby care in working place made a positive effect on the job satisfaction and psychological sense of security of working woman. Analyses indicated that baby care in working place might be an important factor to change and look for a job. Further, baby care in working place was more economical than those in private institute or home. Married women showed significantly higher job satisfaction than unmarried women.

The purpose of this study was to verification of the effect of in-service education program based on self-reflection. The subjects of this study were 13 kindergarten teachers in the C areas. The research methods were participatory research approach, action research, case study, and theme central interaction. Analysis and evaluation of materials were done by the qualitative method based on paraphrase and interpretation of Lamnek(1995) and Glaser & Strauss(1979). The results showed that the in-service education program gave an effect in order to increase the perception and practice on the project approach of kindergarten teachers.

A questionnaire was administerd to 82 caregivers of disabled childrens attending inclusion daycare centers(IDC) and disabled children only centers(DOC) to study if there were any differences between two groups in terms of caregivers' caregiving burdens and their social supports.
Caregivers of DOC have scored higer than those of IOC in all sub categories of caregiving burdens except physical burden and the former appeals higher level of emotional support needs and infomational support needs than the latter. There are positive correlations(person's r=.7~.8) between careging burdens of sub catogories and emotinoal, material, informational, and over-all social supports except instrumental support(r=.3~.4). It is also found that the levels of sub catogories of careging burdens are inlfluenced by the kinds of social supports the caregivers perceive.
It is discussed that various social welare services(i.e. Respite-care service) shoud be provided in order to recuce the caregiving burdens and that inclusion daycare policy need to be more emphasized in order for the disabled childrens' wholistic development and social integration.

The purpose of this study is to illustrate the effects on vocabulary and language expressive abilities with postcard story making. Eighty five-years-old infant's are participated. Post-test utilized for this study.
The statement of the specific purpose is to illustrate that (a) the effects of vocabulary development, and (b) language expressive abilities of the subject with postcard story making.
The results of this study are that: (a) the infant's activities with postcard story making are effect to improve the vocabulary ability. The activities with postcard story making for the infant's vocabulary ability; and (b) infant's language expressive ability is influenced by the activities with postcard story making. The activities with postcard story making for the infant's language development are an excellent intervention material.
Therefore, the conclusions of this study are (a) the natural play circumstances with peer interaction are important factor to develop the infant's language ability; and (b) infant's based activities, not teachers and/or adults is considered to develop the infant's creative knowledge and potential energy with language.
