The purpose of this study is to investigate the organizational characteristics of a school and their implications for school social work. The organizational characteristics of a school suggested by this study are the vagueness of organizational objectives, its dual structure, the fluidity of teachers and students, the rigidity of working methods and the difficulties of evaluation. Based on these organizational characteristics of a school, this study has proposed a the school social worker's status and qualifications within the school. In addition, school social worker's leadership activities and an appreciative eye for organizational politics within the school are proposed.
