본 연구의 목적은 소아암 아동청소년에게 제공된 교육지원 및 학교적응 서비스의 욕구 충족 수준을 파악하고 미충족 욕구에 대한 해결방안을 제시하는 것이다. 혼합방법론을 적용하였으며, 2013년 11월부터 2014년 2월까지 자기기입식 설문조사가 진행된 양적 연구에는 145명이, 개별 심층면접으로 수행된 질적 연구에는 30명이 참여하였다. 분석 결과, 서비스 요구는 ①욕구충족이 상대적으로 높은 서비스 항목(병원학교 프로그램, 온라인 사이버학습), ②욕구 미충족이 상대적으로 높은 서비스 항목(대학특례입학 및 가산점제도, 소아암 완치자를 위한 직업상담), ③미충족 욕구와 충족된 욕구가 동시에 높은 서비스 항목(학습관련 비용 지원, 학습지원 자원봉사자 연계), ④욕구가 없다는 응답과 미충족되었다는 응답이 모두 높게 나타난 서비스 항목(치료 후 학교복귀를 위해 개발된 프로그램, 학교 급우에 대한 소아암 관련 교육)의 4개 영역으로 구분되었다. 질적 연구에서는 각 서비스 항목 별로 서로 다른 현황이 발생한 이유에 대해 심층적으로 탐구하였다. 양적, 질적 연구 결과를 혼합한 해석내용을 토대로 소아암 아동청소년의 교육지원 및 학교적응을 효과적으로 수행할 수 있는 서비스 개선 방안을 제시하였다.
This study aims to explore the satisfied, unsatisfied, and unmet needs of school adaptation services provided to childhood cancer survivors to support educational achievement and school adaptation with mixed methods. Quantitative data was collected with self-administered questionnaires; and qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews. Both data were collected from November 2013 to February 2014. Each data had 145 eligible participants in quantitative study, and 30 participants in qualitative study The results of both studies were compared, contrasted, and mixed to draw conclusions and implications. Hospital school and E-learning services were relatively high in “satisfied” category; affirmative action program in higher education and career coaching program in “unmet needs” category; educational support services including tuition support and connecting teacher volunteers in“satisfied” and “unmet needs” categories, and school reentry program and peer education program for childhood cancer survivors were relatively high in “unmet needs” as well as “no needs” category. Based on these results, adequate strategies to improve services for educational achievement and school adaptation for childhood cancer survivors were suggested.
