Volunteering Experience of Overseas Long-term Volunteers

본 연구는 해외 장기 자원봉사자의 자원봉사활동 경험을 심층적으로 이해함으로써 효과적인 해외자원봉사 활동의 방향 및 관리방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 아시아지역에서 1년 이상 활동한 해외 장기 자원봉사자 9명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다.
Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 사용하여 질적 분석한 결과, 해외 자원봉사 경험은 개념 92개, 하위범주 19개, 범주 6개로 나타났으며, 범주는 “낯선 길로 들어가기”, “길을 잃어버림”, “새로운 길 만들기”, “길 위에서 만난 사람들”, “혼자서는 갈 수 없는 길”,“또 다른 길 위에 서다”이다. 주요 연구결과를 토대로 사회복지실천 및 정책수립에의 함의를 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study is to explore the volunteering experience of overseas long-termvolunteers. Researchers had in-depth interviews with nine KOICA overseas volunteers whohad finished the voluntary service in the Asian countries. By the Giorgi's Phenomenological research method, it is found that the experience of overseas volunteering came out into 92 concepts, 19 subcategories and 6 categories. The experience of overseas long-term volunteering was constructed of 6 categories such as "Entering to the unfamiliar road", "Loston the road", "Creating a new road", "Meeting people on the road", "A road that alone can notgo", "Standing on another road". Based on the results of this study, the implications of theSocial Work practice and policy were discussed.
