이 연구는 청소년의 지역사회 사회적 자본이 정서적 역량을 매개하여 학교적응에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 지역사회 사회적 자본을 청소년의 정서적 역량과 학교적응과 같은 발달과제의 자원이 되도록 적용 가능한 사회복지 실천방법을 찾는 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구 수행을 위하여 한국청소년 정책연구원의 2013년 제 4차 한국 아동ㆍ청소년 초등학교 4학년 패널조사 자료인 중학교 1학년 2017명의 응답 자료를 사용하였다. 또한, 지역사회 사회적 자본이 청소년의 정서적 역량을 매개하여 학교적응에 미치는 간접효과를 분석하기 위하여 구조방정식 모형을 사용하였다. 연구결과로, 지역사회 사회적 자본은 청소년의 학교적응과 정서적 역량에 유의하고 직접인 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었으며, 청소년의 중요한 발달적 자원임을 알 수 있었다. 청소년의 정서적 역량은 지역사회 사회적 자본이 학교적응에 미치는 경로에서 유의한 부분 매개효과를 보여 청소년의 학교적응에 긍정적인 영향을 주고 있음도 확인하였다. 이와 같은 결과로 청소년의 학교적응에 도움이 되는 지역사회 사회적 자본의 향상, 정서적 역량을 높이는 사회복지 실천에 대한 함의와 제언을 후반부에 제시하였다.
This study investigated the causal relationships among community social capital, adolescents’ emotional competence, and school adjustment with a focus on mediating the role of adolescents’ emotional competence in the relationship between community social capital and adolescents’ school adjustment. The data was collected from students in the first grade of middle school (N=2017) in the 2013 Korean Children-Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS). This study found that community social capital had significant direct effects on adolescents’ school adjustment and on their emotional competence and that the community social capital is important adolescents’ developmental resource. The other founding was that the adolescents’ emotional competence had a partial mediating effect in the causal model. Implications for social work practice to promote community social capital for adolescent’s school adjustment and emotional competency were discussed.
