코로나19로 인한 가구 경제 악화가 청소년의 일상생활 스트레스를 통해 학업 성취에 미치는 영향: 한부모 가구와 양부모 가구의 비교를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 코로나19로 인한 가구 경제 악화가 청소년의 일상생활 스트레스를 통해 학업 성취에 미치는 영향과 한부모 가구 여부의 조절효과를 규명하는 것이다. 이러한 연구 목적을 위해 본 연구는 2020년에 수행된 제16차 청소년건강행태온라인조사의 원자료로부터 선별된 전국적 대표성을 지니는 양부모와 한부모 가구의 청소년 42,028명을 대상으로 PROCESS macro 방법을 활용하여 매개 및 조절된 매개효과를 분석하였다. 분석을 통해 도출한 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 코로나19로 인한 가구 경제 악화는 청소년의 일상생활 스트레스를 통해 학업 성취에 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과는 코로나19로 인한 가구 경제 악화의 경험이 청소년의 일상생활 스트레스 수준을 높이고, 이어서 학업 성취 수준을 낮춘다는 것을 의미한다. 다음으로 한부모 가구 여부는 코로나19로 인한 가구 경제 악화가 청소년의 일상생활 스트레스를 통해 학업 성취에 미치는 부정적 매개효과를 조절하였다. 즉, 해당 매개효과는 양부모 가구 청소년에 비해 한부모 가구 청소년에게서 더 두드러졌다. 분석의 결과를 기반으로 본 연구는 코로나19와 같은 재난 상황 하에서 청소년의 학업 성취를 증진시키기 위한 다양한 사회복지 실천 전략을 제언하였다.
This study aimed to examine the influence of COVID-19-induced household economic deterioration on academic achievement through daily stress among adolescents, and the moderation effect of whether to belong to a single or two parent household. For the research purpose, this study analyzed the mediation and moderated mediation effects through the PROCESS macro method with a nationally representative sample of 42,028 adolescents in single and two parent households from the raw data of the 16th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey conducted in 2020. The results produced from analyses are as follows. First, COVID-19-induced household economic deterioration influenced academic achievement through daily stress. It means that experiencing COVID-19-induced household economic deterioration among adolescents increased the level of daily stress and, in turn, decreased the level of academic achievement. Next, whether to belong to a single or two parent household moderated the negative mediation effect of COVID-19-induced household economic deterioration on academic achievement through daily stress. That is, the mediation effect was more pronounced for adolescents in single parent households than for adolescents in two parent households. Based on the results of the analyses, this study suggested social welfare strategies to improve the academic achievement of adolescents in the midst of pandemic like COVID-19.
